LEIPZIG HOTELS
Leipzig is a major Conference City, and has many hotels to suit all budgets. The Centre area of Leipzig has approximately 12,000 Hotel rooms on its own.

HOTELS - SO MANY BUT WHERE SHOULD I STAY?
My advice is to stay in the city centre, as close to the Station or Mortizbastei as possible, this will provide you with an excellent base to get around Leipzig and put you in staggering distance of most nightclubs in the evening. As for the actual hotel to pick, that will depend on how much money you are willing to pay for a good nights sleep.

Looking at the map below I would advise staying in the Zentrum / Mitte area of Leipzig, followed by Altwest / West (as these areas are closer to the Felsenkeller and Taubchenthal, in which many of the festival bands will play)

 

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK?

It will depend on what hotel you want to stay at, many hotels will have higher prices for the WGT weekend (as its a bank holiday and demand is high). Historically we have found that booking the same hotel as you leave is more expensive, and using some of the comparison sites only adds additional costs on. Its a bit of a gamble whatever way you do it, however we have found that the sweet spot (if there is one) is around 9/10 months before the next WGT, so August time...another time to buy is right before WGT, where hotel rooms have been handed back that they will want to sell quickly, but again that is a gamble as you maybe limited to where you stay.

 

 I recommend reserving a room if you are not 100% sure you are coming, this is normally free although you have to provide credit card details (should you not go and don't advise the hotel of your plans). I also strongly advise shopping around for Hotel prices, the price you are quoted 
especially via hotels own websites can be at the top end of the price range, a few weeks before WGT you may find that prices come down, so keep checking throughout the year. There are many websites where you can book a hotel, however my personal favorite is Trivago (as this site checks the prices on a range of other websites and gives you the cheapest price).

WARNING: Approx 50 people had issues with Otel.com in 2018 and had to pay twice (which for obvious reasons created quite a few issues for those that had used the site), it is probably best to avoid using this site to book your hotel.

 

AHHH, ITS NEARLY WGT AND I HAVE NOT BOOKED - WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Don't Panic, you will find a hotel, it may not be the best, or be in the best location, but you will find something (although it may take a bit of hunting). Go for somewhere south of the city centre or just north of the station. There are a couple of hotels down near the Agra that may have empty rooms and maybe worth checking (The Atlanta Hotel International).

HOTEL ALTERNATIVES - WHERE ELSE CAN I STAY?
There is an alternative to staying in a Hotel, you can stay in a Guest house / B&B (called Pensions) or in an Apartment. These will be cheaper and will take a little more work to find (as most of the websites seem to be in German only). Apartments are getting more popular, some are only rented out for WGT...there are a couple of sites out there to help you book these but the best has to be Airbnb . Apartments tend to be located away from the City centre (in more residential areas, however they are cheaper and give you more flexibility when it comes to eating and getting up etc.)


SO WHAT IS THE BEST HOTELS TO STAY IN - WHERE DO YOU STAY?
Hotels across Leipzig, like many cities vary considerably, ranging from posh 5 Star Hotels like the Fuerstenhof to cheap hotels like the Ibis.
